Day One

Which enlightened ideas about government do you like the most?
-It was a European intellectual movement in the late 17th and 18th centuries emphasizing individualism not tradition. heavily influenced by the people mentioned below. On the first day of summer school, we researched the enlightenment and looked into various historical figures during that time period. we looked at Thomas Hobbes who believed that all humans where evil and at war with each other and after the research we had the opportunity to reenact each historical figure and answered questions as if we where them. Along with Hobbes, we learned about a man who goes by the name of John Locke, who is basically opposed to Hobbes in his views on human nature. he believes that humans are reasonable and are capable of of self government where as to Hobbes, he seems to only believe in monarchy. All in all we learned each historical figures relevance to the enlightenment period and why they are important to this time period.
